Great Social Media Idea: Introducing New Students on Vine

University of New Hampshire always does great stuff (seriously - go follow them on everything right now!), and this idea is no exception.

This summer, I have been blown away by how darn excited and socially connected the incoming Class of 2018 at University of Portland (where I work) is. They are blowing up the Facebook group for the class with dozens of posts and comments every day... sometimes it's about school-related stuff, but more often than not it's about introducing themselves to new classmates and finding new friends and people who are interested in the same things they are. I've seriously been pretty blown away by how eager they are to get to know each other.

So when I saw this great Vine project from UNH introducing members of the Class of 2018, I knew I had to share it.

For those too lazy to click through, each Vine (and there are probably 100+ of them) features an incoming freshman say their name, where they're from, and what their major is. Super simple, but super effective... it was really fun to click through a few of them and get a feel for the types of students that go to UNH. (For those interested in how they got Vines of incoming students prior to the start of school, these were taken during an orientation event in June.)

I can only imagine how excited the UP Class of 2018 would be if I had put together something like this... I'm sure the UNH Class of 2018 is eating these up.

Props to Jason Boucher, UNH's social media ace, for this great project!
