Great Facebook Idea: 4th of July Edition

Happy 4th of July, faithful readers! I love all three of you (especially you, mom!), very, very much. 

I'm going to spare you all from my usual blatherings today... if I ever were to write a book, the blurb on the back would say: "The covers of this book are too far apart!" ... and instead will get straight to the point.

One of the funny things about following so many colleges on Facebook is seeing the endless holiday posts... I mean, this is just a *tiny* sample of what I had the "pleasure" of scrolling through today: 

 'Murica!

Not pictured here (but rest assured, they are there) are SO. MANY. FLAG PHOTOS. And fireworks. Lots and lots of fireworks. And soldiers. A few BBQs, including these delightful looking steaks cut into the shape of the West Virginia logo. And Harvard posted a photo of a copy of the Declaration of Independence it has in its archives, because, of course.

Which is why this fun little post from Siena College stood out, for the same reason that University of Oregon's April Fool's Day post stood out to me. 

Cute animals (even stuffed ones) always win the internet. Always. 

It's fun, it's refreshing, and above all... it's different. It doesn't take itself seriously, and it reminds people why they are on Facebook in the first place - for a break, for some entertainment, and for a diversion from the daily grind. 

So of course I stole the idea immediately. Because I'm a thief like that.
